 What to expect:

This national conference is co-sponsored by the Initiative for Mathematics Learning by Inquiry (MLI) and the IBL Special Interest Group of the Mathematical Association of America (IBL SIGMAA)  whose missions are to strengthen the mathematical preparation of all students by supporting and expanding the community of teacher-practitioners at the undergraduate, graduate, and pre-college levels in inquiry-based learning (IBL). IBL encompasses a broad spectrum of high-impact active learning practices that involve deep mathematical problem solving by students, student collaboration, and instructor inquiry into student thinking. These inquiry experiences are often transformational both for students and for educators.

The conference will provide a forum for newcomers, beginning practitioners, and experts in the use of IBL in the classroom. It will also provide an opportunity for collaboration among practitioners of IBL, mathematics education researchers, and K-12 mathematics teachers. Planned activities include introductory sessions for novice IBL practitioners, working groups to explore cutting-edge innovations, discussion of the Mathematical Association of America’s newly released Instructional Practice Guide, and opportunities to experience model IBL classrooms.

Whether you are new to or experienced with inquiry, come join us for an active, participatory conference to learn from and connect with fellow educators!
